Importance of Sarvapitra Moksha Amavasya or Mahalaya Amavasya:

The Amavasya of Shradh Paksha is called Sarv Pitra Moksha Amavasya. Amavasya Tithi of Ashwin month considered being very important for the Shradh of Petras. The Shradh day of the holy ancestors, which lasts sixteen days, will end on Thursday, September 17.

Those who do not know the death date of their Pitras or do not perform any shradh during these sixteen days, then their shradh is performed on Amavasya day. Hence it is called SarvaPitra Moksha Amavasya or Mahalaya Amavasya.

What to do on the day of SarvaPitra Moksha Amavasya:

When ancestors death date is not known, for the peace of the ancestors, the Pitra Pasha shraddha on the Amavasya meaning to end. On this day, invite a Brahmin to the house and get the ancestors worshipped by law and send them food and leave them as soon as possible.

Panchablea means cow, dog, crow, ant and some portion of food for the deity taken out of the food prepared for Shradh. After this, while praying their ancestors, they should take blessings from them, and at the time of the evening, they should light a lamp according to their strength.

the last day of Shradh:

The day of Sarvapritri Amavasya or Mahalaya is essential for the prevention of Pitra dosha as well as to get peace from the effects of bad planets. Grah is giving harmful effects in your horoscope, due to which you are troubled for many days, then take some measures.

Please donate lamp:

By donating lamps in holy rivers or ponds, the effect of bad planets eliminated, and peace attained.

Donate food:

 After donating the lamp in the holy rivers, the poor must give food, which provides peace to the ancestors and we get their blessings.

To obtain the peace and grace of Petras on the day of Amavasya, one must recite the seventh chapter of the Srimad Bhagavad Gita and offer its result to the ancestors.

On this day, offer water to the Peepal tree, it causes pity.

Mix water, milk, black sesame, barley and honey in a pot. Take milk or sweets, a coconut, a coin and a janeau and offer it under the peepal tree.

While worshipping on Amavasya, do chant this mantra.

“Om Pitra Devatabhoyo Namah”

And on this day, the pitra happy by reciting Pitra Shanti Stotra.
